7 Months old!!

Okay...so I'm a little behind here, but here's the 7 month update. She is now 18 lbs and 26 1/2 inches long. She is growing like a little weed...lol! Alyssa loves her fruits and veggies...unlike her daddy. She is eating 3 jars of food a day now. She is sitting up great and reaching for things. A new development is that she is trying to stand. She will grab our fingers or the side of her crib and just stand right up...no problems. She's still a little wobbly, but ready to go. She's also trying to get up on her knees to crawl, but hasn't quite figured that one out. She is talking up a storm now..just wish I could understand her. I have heard MaMa, DaDa, and baba...I'm sure there's also been a Nana, Granddaddy, PawPaw, and Nanny in there too!

Oh...she's also clapping her hands and playing pattycake. She also learned to scream from her friend Madeline this past weekend.

So innocent...

She loves this music piano toy!!

Playtime & Sippy Cups

We have started trying to introduce Alyssa to the sippy cup. I'm not sure she's real interested in it yet. She'll suck on it if we pick it up for her...lol! She's also not holding her bottle either. She will pick up the cup and bang it or throw it down though. She'll get the hang of it soon enough.

What a trouble maker!!
Come here cup..
Why is nothing coming out??
Finally got it..

When we got Alyssa's 6 month portraits done, we ordered some 16x20's also. They came in these tubes. She had a ball playing with them. She would beat on them, roll over them, and chew on them. I know everyone says the cheap toys are usually the best, it's just funny to see what amazes her.

Hi Mom!!

Wonder where she gets the trait of using her feet from??
Aunt Shelly??

Hurrican Ike stories...

Well...Like everyone else seemed to do, we decided to leave and go to Huntsville. We really didn't have much of a choice, Dickinson was under mandatory evacuation. We got the house as ready as we could Wednesday night and watched the news. Thursday morning we packed up and headed to Huntsville. It took us about 2 hours to get there thanks to the construction in Conroe...lol! We had to go get supplies and stuff in town, then hunkered down for the storm. We lost power there about 7am Saturday morning. Luckily, we had two generators, the one we bought and PawPaw's. We were able to run the small window unit and the fridges and the tv/satellite. However, we seemed to watch a whole lot of Blue's Clues and Pinky Dinky Doo and Yo Gabba Gabba...she's already controlling the remote. After the weather started to cool off, we went outside for a while. Alyssa loves being outside. She wanted to play in the grass and eat the leaves. She's putting everything in her mouth now. She also loved trying to reach for the dogs, they started avoiding her reach after a few days.

We got power back at our house and decided to return home and survey the damage the Wednesday after the storm. We only had a few panels blown down and some wind blown shrubs We were very lucky, and I praise God it wasn't worse. My prayers go out to all those who suffered far worse than us.

What's this stuff??

Showing off..

Alyssa can now sit on her own really well. She can't quite get there on her own yet, but she's close. I think she's getting bored with being stationary and wants to be mobile...lol! We brought her this onsie back from Roatan, and per their sizes it's a 12 month onsie. I'm glad we tried it on her..it's almost too small. Don't ya just love that smile...melts my heart every time I see it. She is beginning to get really interactive with us. She talks constantly and laughs at us all the time. She loves to lay on the couch with her daddy and have him tickle her. She even grabbed his hand the other day and pulled it to her tummy for more, then looked up at him and grinned. I think she's got him right where she wants him! Nothing like being a daddy's girl (and I should know!!).

Sitting pretty.

Yummy Yummy!

Open up...
What a messy face!

I got the spoon thing down!

Well...we had a breakthrough with Alyssa yesterday. She ate a WHOLE jar of sweet peas last night. She has also tried sweet potatoes, applesauce, carrots, and pears. I think she still prefers real food, but we're getting there now. She knows how to handle the spoon, and bang it on the tray, and drop it on the floor.

French Fries...

I think my baby girl has decided against eating baby food. It just doesn't taste good to her. She tried to take a bite of Mark's cinnamon roll last night, and wanted to eat the big kids breakfast at daycare. Here's the pics from her first try of french fries!
