4 months old

Well...Alyssa is now officially 4 months old. She doesn't go for her well baby checkup for another two weeks, but I wanted to see how much she weighed. I got on the scale with her, and she weighed in at 14.8 lbs. She is getting chubby little legs on her. I've started switching out all her clothes now since she's outgrowing so much. I've had to start putting 6-9 month onsies on her now...she's so long.

As far as milestones go...she is grabbing her feet and trying to sit up (with assistance of course). She's also starting blowing raspberries at us. The other night I asked if she was ready for bed...and she blew a raspberry in response. I took that as a no...lol! She has also learned how to pull on her toys that make sound. We had her in the bouncy seat, and she pulled the flower handle and the music started. She looked a little shocked about it. Then she looked at the flower, put her hands up and pulled again. She did that three more times, and of course I got the camera out to capture it...I can't believe she's growing up so fast!

Cousins...

Nana, Aunt Shelly, Destiny, and Derek came over for a visit on Sunday. We met them for lunch at Mamacita's and had a yummy lunch. Then we went back to our house to visit. Alyssa decided to show off and get a little fussy. She didn't want to miss out on any of the action by taking a nap. She dozed some on Nana's shoulder, but woke up when she was put in her crib. Then we put her in the swing in the living room...and she dozed off with all the noise the kids were making..lol! We did manage to get all three of them to sit still long enough to get a few pictures of them.

Giggles & Grins...

Here's the video clip as promised of Alyssa laughing...I hope this works.

Sorry....

I've been bad and not posted anything for a few weeks. It's been crazy around our house. Mark is offshore on another research trip, and we've been going to visit families for the holidays.

So, that being said, here's an update for the past few weeks. Alyssa has discovered her feet. She is raising up her legs to grab at her toes. They haven't made it to her mouth yet, but it's only a matter of time now. She is also really focusing on her toys. She will look right at it, then reach for it. Sometimes she gets it, and sometimes she misses. We have also discovered her laugh. It is the cutest thing, even the ladies at daycare commented on what a cute laugh she has. As soon as I can figure out how to upload from the video camera, I'll post the clip. Another new development is that she is trying to hold her bottle. Every time she eats, she puts both hands on the bottle like she's scared I'm going to take it away. Then she'll put one hand on her forehead as if she's put out with me...it's so cute.

Last Sunday, we had a visitor....my college roomie & best friend Maggie came over and brought her little girl Kailey. Kailey is 18 months old now and into everything. It was a really good day of visiting. Kailey gave lots of love to Alyssa and Colby.

Family Pictures....

I really wanted to get pictures of the family done at her 3 month session..but we were lucky to get the two shots that we did. She was getting very frustrated with us, and by the time we tried for the family shot, she was screaming. So we called it a day, and then got PawPaw to take some pictures of us at home...here are a few.

Yep...she was tired of the pictures...

Various Pics & Videos..

Daddy & Alyssa

Since she's starting scooting, we have to buckle her into the swing. Or this is what we find..

She's finding her relfection in the mirror. She was having a long conversation with herself, then would fall onto her back, then roll back up to talk some more.

Mark has gotten Alyssa to start sticking out her tongue...he'll run his finger over her lips saying "lizard, lizard" and out the tongue comes. I fell in love with this picture. It really shows her personality starting to come out.

We tried her shades on her. They are still a little to big for her, but I'm sure we'll get to use them soon enough.

Play time on her activity mat. She's getting really good at grabbing the toys and making them swing.

Waking up is hard to do! She tries so hard to wake up...

Rolling over....

Here's the video of her rolling over. The first time she did it, we were doing tummy time. She rolled up on her side, then plopped over on her back. The look of shock on her face was priceless...too bad I didn't have the camera ready. She seemed surprised and didn't know what to make of what she'd done. We got the video camera ready for the next time, though. Later that night we tried again....with camera in hand. Yippee!! It wasn't a fluke, she rolled over again, and we got it on camera. She's rolled over three times since Thursday night.

Now...we're ready for the other direction..

3 months Old!!

Alyssa is now 3 months old and is a very active little baby! She doesn't sleep much during the day, but has been sleeping thru the night for almost 3 weeks now. Mom & Dad are soooo excited about that. She's also becoming a little piglet...I'm going to have to start her on foods soon to keep up with her appetite. She weighed in at 12.4 lbs on May 28. She has also rolled over from her tummy to her back!! Three times so far, and she scoots and wiggles all over her crib and the floor at play time. She is doing complete turns in her crib. She talks to us constantly and laughs and giggles, even in her sleep. It's the cutest thing.
Alyssa is growing up soo fast. She loves her daddy too! He can get her to smile and laugh more than anyone else. She'll carry on a converstation with him forever. It is so funny to listen to her coo, she's trying so hard to tell us something.
